Engineering Documentation Software

DocuEngine™ Ultimate | Free Offline Engineering Documentation Software

DocuEngine Ultimate is a free, fully offline engineering software platform that runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to install, no account to create, and no server in the loop — open one HTML file, and you have a complete engineering documentation software suite for P&ID drafting, instrument registers, code validation, reporting, and certification. Every calculation and every document is produced locally on your machine, so your project data never leaves your computer.

What is DocuEngine Ultimate?

DocuEngine Ultimate is a single-file, zero-dependency web application built by AIEnginear for process, mechanical, and commissioning engineers. It packages the everyday documentation tasks of an engineering project — building an instrument index, running sizing checks, drafting a P&ID, issuing certificates, and exporting reports — into one fast, private tool. Because it is offline by design, it works on locked-down plant networks, on a plane, or on a site laptop with no connectivity.

A complete engineering platform that runs in your browser

True PDF & Excel export engines

DocuEngine includes hand-built PDF and Excel (XLSX) export engines written from scratch — no external libraries. The PDF generator produces genuine, multi-page documents with title blocks, watermarks, embedded metadata, page numbers, and signature blocks. The XLSX engine writes real, multi-sheet workbooks that open natively in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. You can also export a portable JSON backup of any project and re-import it on another device.

P&ID drafting studio

The built-in P&ID drafting tool lets you place ISA-style symbols (vessels, pumps, valves, instruments, exchangers), connect them with orthogonally routed flow lines, snap to a grid, and zoom and pan a large canvas. A one-click continuity check flags any unconnected equipment — useful for quick markups and review sketches without opening a heavyweight CAD package.

Engineering database & instrument index

Manage your instrument index in a virtualized data table that stays fast even with thousands of tags. Capture tag number, service, type, design pressure and temperature, piping class and material, then search and edit instantly. DocuEngine flags material/service compatibility on every row using a built-in metallurgy matrix.

Built-in validation (ASME B31.3, API RP 14E and more)

The transparent rule engine performs common engineering checks and shows the standard, formula, and every input behind each result — no black boxes. The included calculators cover ASME B31.3 minimum wall thicknessAPI RP 14E erosional velocity, pipe sizing for a target velocity, liquid control valve Cv, Reynolds number, and material compatibility screening. Save any run to the project record with one click.

Risk heatmap & integrity scoring

Visualize mechanical integrity at a glance. DocuEngine builds a 5×5 risk matrix (consequence × likelihood) from your instrument data and produces an overall integrity score from data completeness, validation pass rate, material compatibility, P&ID continuity, and turnover progress.

Certificates with scannable QR verification

Issue calibration, conformance, pressure-test, or material certificates as real PDFs, each carrying a scannable QR code and a SHA-256 fingerprint for later verification. The QR codes are generated by a built-in Reed-Solomon encoder and scan reliably on any phone.

Tamper-evident audit trail

DocuEngine keeps an append-only, SHA-256 hash-chained audit trail in the style of 21 CFR Part 11. Each entry’s hash includes the previous one, so any edit to history breaks the chain and is immediately detectable. You can apply electronic signatures (with name, meaning, and timestamp), lock a revision, and save named snapshots that you can compare side by side.

Why offline matters for engineering data

Engineering documents often contain commercially sensitive and safety-critical information. Because DocuEngine Ultimate is 100% offline, nothing is uploaded, tracked, or stored on a third-party server — all data lives in your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB). That makes it a good fit for confidential projects, air-gapped plant networks, and teams that simply do not want their data in someone else’s cloud.

Who DocuEngine Ultimate is for

DocuEngine is built for engineers and teams across oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, aerospace, water treatment, and data-center projects — process engineers building instrument indexes, mechanical engineers running code checks, and commissioning teams preparing turnover packages and certificates.

How to get started

There is no setup. Open the page, and a demo project loads automatically so you can explore every module. Create your own project, add instruments, run validations, draft a P&ID, and export a PDF report or Excel workbook in seconds. Want it on your own site or intranet? The whole app is one HTML file you can host anywhere.

What’s included today (honest scope)

We believe in transparency. The PDF, Excel, QR, IndexedDB storage, audit trail, rule engine, and virtualized tables are fully production-ready. The P&ID studio is an advanced drafting starter — placing, connecting, routing, and checking symbols — rather than a full CAD replacement with obstacle-aware auto-routing, multi-sheet management, or reporting. Reporting is currently English-only. We label what is partial rather than oversell it. DocuEngine’s calculators are powerful decision-support tools; results depend on the inputs and code data you enter, so always verify against your project specifications.

Frequently asked questions

Is DocuEngine Ultimate really free? Yes. It is a free, browser-based tool from AIEnginear with no account, paywall, or trial limit.

Does it work offline? Completely. After the page loads, no internet connection is required, and no data is sent anywhere — everything runs and is stored locally in your browser.

Do I need to install anything? No. DocuEngine is a single HTML file that runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android.

Where is my data stored? In your browser’s local IndexedDB storage on your own device. You can export projects as JSON, PDF, or Excel for backup or sharing.

Which engineering standards does it cover? The validation engine includes ASME B31.3 wall thickness, API RP 14E erosional velocity, pipe and control valve sizing, Reynolds number, and material compatibility. It is an engineering decision support — verify results against your project codes and specifications.

Can I add it to my own website or WordPress page? Yes. Because it is one self-contained file, you can embed it in an iframe on any page, including a WordPress/Elementor HTML widget.

Is the audit trail suitable for regulated work? DocuEngine provides a tamper-evident, hash-chained audit trail and electronic signatures modeled on 21 CFR Part 11 principles. Whether it meets a specific regulatory requirement depends on your organization’s validation and procedures.
